Chap. 1234.—An ACT for the relief of E. W. Beale, a Confederate veteran.

Whereas E. W. Beale, of Southampton county, a deserving Confed-
erate veteran, lost his health in the late war between the states by
reason of exposure in the service of the Confederate army, and is by
reason thereof unable to perform labor and support himself; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the auditor
of public accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized and required to place
the name of the said KE. W. Beale upon the pension roll of Confederate
soldiers, he to receive an annual pension of fifteen dollars from the
public treasury: provided, that facts herein alleged shall be proven before
the county court of Svuthampton county, and same be certified to the
said auditor.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
