Chap. 1232.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Mary E. Boyd, of Floyd county,
Virginia.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Mistress Mary E. Boyd, widow of Hiram Boyd, who was a
true and gallant Confederate soldier during the war, was loyal to Vir-
ginia; and
Whereas said Hiram Boyd died of disease resulting from exposure
while in active service during the war; and
Whereas said Mistress Mary E. Boyd is now very poor and dependent
and seventy-five years old and almost blind; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Floyd county shall examine into the condition of the said
Mistress Mary E. Boyd, widow of a Confederate soldier, and should it
be that he was true and loyal to Virginia, and that he died from disease
the result of exposure during the war, and that she is poor and needy,
and should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Floyd
should send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts of
Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is directed to place the
name of Mistress Mary E. Boyd on the pension list, and pay her annually
the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April, nine-
teen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
