Chap. 1202.—An ACT for the relief of Edward Via, a Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Edward Via, a disabled Confederate soldier of company k,
fifty-sixth Virginia infantry, N. A. Flournoy, captain, was a true and
gallant soldier during the civil war; was loy al to Virginia and the Con-
federate states; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disability
General debility, old age, deafness, resulting from wound in the head.
In fact is generally broken down: result of exposure, wounds and
hardships while i active service; therefore,
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Hanover shall examine into the condition of the above-named
dward Via, a Confederate soldier, and should it be that he was true
and loval to Virginia through the war, and that he is now afflicted, and
is very poor and unable to maintain himself and incapacitated for manual
labor; that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia,
and if the county court of Hlanover should send a certificate of the facts
to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public
accounts 1s directed to place the name of Edward Via on the pension
list, and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the
first dav of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
