Chap. 1192.—An ACT for the relief of W. C. Dowdy, a wounded Confederate
soldier, of Culpeper county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas W. C. Dowdy, a Confederate soldier of Culpeper county, was
wounded in the Confederate army at Five Forks, on the first day of
April, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, in such a manner as to totally
disable him for manual labor, and he is technically denied the benefits
of an act to provide pensions for soldiers or sailors of Virginia, wounded
or disabled in war between the states; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the auditor
of public accounts be, and is hereby, directed to place the name of W.
C. Dowdy on the pension rolls, as entitled to a pension of fifteen dollars
per annum: provided, it first be proven before the county court of Cul-
peper that the facts herein alleged are true, and that it is further proved
that he is in poor and needy circumstances; and certificate of said facts
shall be certified to the auditor.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
