Chap. 1185.—An ACT for the relief of Parnelia Moon, widow of a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas J. P. Moon, a deceased Confederate soldier of Virginia, was
a true and gallant soldier during the war; and
Whereas he was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas his widow, Parnelia Moon, is now old and in indigent cir-
cumstances, and in need of aid; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Albemarle county shall examine into the condition
of the above-named Parnelia Moon, the widow of a Confederate soldier:
and should it be found that the said J. P. Moon was true and loyal
to Virginia throughout the war; and that his said widow is now afflicted,
and in destitute circumstances, and is needy and poor, and should re-
ceive aid from the state of Virginia; and if the county court of Albe-
marle county shall send a certificate of the facts to the auditor of
public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is
directed to place the name of the said Parnelia Moon on the pension
list, and pay her annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the
first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be enforced from its passage.
