Chap. 1168.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Naoma Crawford.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Mistress Naoma Crawford, the mother of James M. Crawford
and John H. Crawford, deceased Confederate soldiers, the first named,
James M. Crawford, was a member of company Ky, sixtieth Virginia
regiment, was shot and killed at the battle of Cloid’s mountain, and her
other son, John H. Crawford, was a member of Anderson’s battery, and
died at Cumberland gap; and these sons were the support of their
widowed mother, who is now eighty-two years old, very feeble, shaking
with palsy, and nearly blind, and in destitute circumstances; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Botetourt shall examine into the condition of the above-named
Mistress Naoma Crawford, and upon proof of the facts as above stated,
that she is needy and poor and should receive aid from Virginia, and
if the county court of Botetourt should send a certificate of the facts
to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, that the auditor of public
accounts is directed to place the name of Mistress Naoma Crawford upon
the pension list and pay her annually the sum of fifteen dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
