Chap. 1162.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Clay Mays, widow of Clay Mays, a
Confederate soldier.

Whereas Mistress Clay Mavs is the widow of a former Confederate
soldier, and is old and dependent; and
Whereas Clay Mavs was a member of Davidson battery of field artillery
and served faithfully, and was true and loyal to the state; and
Whereas the said Clay Mavs lost his life while in the army and in
the service of the state and Confederacy; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon proot
of these facts before the hustings court of the city of Richmond, and
the certificate of said court to the auditor of public accounts of this state
then the auditor shall place the name of the said Mistress Clay Mavs
widow of Clay Mavs, a Confederate soldier, upon the pension roll of thi:
state, and pay to her the sum of fifteen dollars annually, on and afte
April first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
