Approved March 7, 1900. Na
Whereas B. H. Hester, a disabled Confederate soldier, a member
of Company E, fortieth Virginia infantry, Captain L. M. Purcell’s
command, was a true and gallant soldier during the late war between
the states, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is suffering from the following disabilities—to wit:
Bodily disease contracted during his service in said war, or growing
out of such service, incapacitating him for manual labor; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
county court of Louisa county shall examine into the condition of the

he was true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now
afflicted by reason of his service in the late war, and incapacitated for
manual labor; that he is needy and poor, and should receive aid from
Virginia, and if the county court of Louisa should send a certificate
of the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the
auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of B. H. Hester,
a Confederate soldier, on the pension list, and pay him annually the
sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day of April, nineteen
hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
