Chap. 1119.—An ACT for the relief of Nathaniel D. Wheeler, a disabled
Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Nathaniel TD. Wheeler, a disabled Confederate soldier of
company J, Fifth Virginia cavalry, was a good and faithful soldier
during the late scetional war, and has ever been true and loyal to Vir-
ciniay and
Whereas from the effects of a wound reeeived while in the Confederate
service, In the battle of Spotsvivania courthouse, and from distressing
infirmity and decreptitude, aggravated, if not produced, by exposure
in the service during the war and hy the weight of vears, he being now
ibout seventy-five years old, he is unable to make and earn his support
by manual labor, and is in distressful and needy circumstances, and,
Jeserving aid from the state—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Elavanna, in which county the said Nathaniel D. Wheeler
resides, do examine into the condition of the said Wheeler, and if it
Shall find that the statements above in recital made are true, it shal!
nake an order to that elfect. and cause a copy thereof to be certified
wits clerk to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, whereupon
e said auditor shall place the name of the said Nathamel D. Wheeler
mn the pension rolls, and cause to be issued to him annually a warrant
mn the treasurer of Virginia for the sum of thirty dollars, commencins
onthe first dav of Apmil, nineteen hundred.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
