Chap. 1101.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Susan B. Cheatham, of Appomat-
tox county.

Whereas Susan B. Cheatham is the widow of Marcellus Cheatham,
who was a member of the eighteenth Virginia infantry, and who, while
serving as a soldier in the Confederate army, was badly wounded in the
battle of Gaines’ mill on the twenty-seventh day of June, eighteen
hundred and sixty-two, from the effect of which wound he suffered
during the rest of his life: and has since died from the effects of said
wounds; and
Whereas his widow, the said Susan B. Cheatham, is now an old
woman, an invalid in destitute cireumstances, and an object of charity—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the auditor
of public accounts be, and is hereby, directed to place the name of
the said Susan B. Cheatham on the pension rolls for a pension of thirty
dollars: provided, the facts herein alleged are proved before the county
court of Appomattox county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
