Chap. 1083.—An ACT for the relief of George W. Earnest, a wounded Confed-
erate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas George W. Earnest, a wounded Confederate soldier, company
G, forty-first Virginia infantry, was a true and gallant soldier during the
late war, was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disability—to wit:
From a wound in the mouth; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the hustings
court of the city of Petersburg shall examine into the condition of the
above named George W. Farnest. a Confederate soldier, and should it
be that he was a true and loval Virginian through the war, and that he
is now afflicted and destitute and incapacitated for manual labor as a
result of said wounds received while in the service, that he is needy
and poor and should receive additional aid from Virginia, and if the
hustings court of Petersburg should send a certificate of the fact to the
auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public
accounts is directed to increase the pension of the said George W.
Earnest and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after the
ural t dav of April, nineteen hundred.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
