Chap. 1079.—An ACT for the relief of Sarah D. Griggs, the widow of a Con-
federate soldier, of the county of Patrick.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Louis 8S. Griggs was a soldier in-the service of Virginia in
the late war between the states, and while in such service contracted
disease, from which he died shortly after the close of the war, leaving
a widow, Sarah D. Griggs, who is now poor and dependent; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
court of Patrick county shall inquire into the condition of the said
Sarah D. Griggs, and if said court should certify to the auditor of public
accounts that the said Sarah D. Griggs is now poor and needy, and that
her late husband, Louis 8. Griggs, was a true and gallant soldier during
the late war ‘between the states, was loyal to Virgima, and died shortly
ufter the war from disease contracted while in the service of the state,
then the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to
place the name of Sarah D. Griggs, of the county of Patrick, upon the
pension list, to receive a pension as other widows of Confederate soldiers.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
