Chap. 1061.—An ACT for the rellef of Peter J. Hight, a Confederate soldier,
of Nelson county.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Peter J. Hight, of company F, fifth Virginia infantry, was
a true and gallant soldier during the civil war, and was wounded in the
hattle of Winchester on the eighteenth day of June, cighteen hundred
and sixtv-three; and
Whereas the said Peter J. Hight is now suffering from the said
wound, which has caused four inches of the hone of the leg below the
knee to be taken out, causing great disability, and making the leg
very inefficient, and disabling him from performing manual labor;
therefore,
1. Be it enacted bv the general assembly of Virginia. That the
county court of Nelson county shall examine into the condition of

the above-named Peter J. Hight, and should it be that he is now
wounded and incapacitated as set forth in the above preamble, and
that he desires assistance from Virginia; and if the county court of
Nelson should send a certificate of the facts so set forth to the auditor
of public accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts be,
and he is, directed to place the name of Peter J. Hight on the pension
roll and pay him annually the sum of fifteen dollars on and after April
first, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
