Chap. 1051.—An ACT for the relief of George W. Collins, of Henry county, a
Confederate soldier.
Approved March 7%, 1900.
Whereas George W. Collins, of Henry county, was a true and gallant
Confederate soldier of company H, twenty-second regiment of North
Carolina infantry, volunteering at the very beginning of the war and
serving on the battle-field of Virginia until just before the close of
he war, being captured at Burgess’ Mill, near Petersburg, in April,
ai¢hteen hundred and sixty-five; and
Whereas the said Collins has resided in Virginia for twelve vears
ast past, and has been an honest and faithful citizen; and
Whereas the said Collins is seventy-four years of age, and has a wife
nd seven children, and has no income except from his manual labor,
nd all his effects are not worth over fifty dollars; and
Whereas said Collins was wounded in his left thigh and in his right
eg in the seven days’ fight around Richmond, and suffered much from
xposure, and now in his old age is very much incapacitated to do
nanual labor, and verv much enfechled from said wounds; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon
roof of the foregoing facts before the county court of Henry county
nd the certificate of the same to the auditor of publie accounts, the
aid auditor shall place the name of the said George W. Collins upon
he pension roll of the state and pay him annually the sum of fifteen
ollars ($15.00) on and after the first day of April, nineteen hundred.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
