Chap. 1032.—An ACT for the relief of Sarah A. Pavy, widow of a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900.
Whereas Joseph A. Pavy, late of Caroline county, was a faithful Con.
federate soldier, a member of company H, thirtieth Virginia infantry.
Corse’s brigade, Pickett’s division, and was a prisoner of war at Point
Lookout for thirteen months prior to Appomattox; and
Whereas when said Pavy was discharged from prison he was in the
last stages of consumption, and died two days after his arrival at home;
and
Whereas said Pavy left a widow, who is now sixty-eight years of age,
and in destitute circumstances—
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon
proof of the facts hereinhefore recited before the county court of Caro-
line county, and certificate thereof to the auditor of public accounts,
said auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to
place the name of Mistress Sarah A. Pavy upon the pension rolls, and
that the said Sarah A. Pavy shall be entitled to aid under the act of
the general assembly of Virginia, approved March fifth, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-eight, entitled “an act to give aid to soldiers, sailors,
and marines of Virginia maimed or disabled in the war between the
states and to the widows of Virginia soldiers, sailors, and marines who
lost their lives in said war in the military service.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
