Chap. 1015.—An ACT for the relief of H. H. Bays, an ex-Confcderate soldier.
Approved March 7, 1900. ’
Whereas Hf. WI. Bays, of Bedford county, was a brave and gallant
Confederate soldier in company FE, fifty-eighth Virginia regiment; and
Whereas the said H. H. Bays, while in the discharge of his duties in
the service of the Confederate States at Pamunky river, near Yellow
Tavern, Virginia, was wounded above the knee, from which wound he
has become incapacitated from active manual labor, and is unable and
without means to support himself; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the said
H. H. Bays shall be permitted to prove before the county court of Bed-
ford county the above facts, or any other material facts, by the best
evidence obtainable, and upon such proof being adduced before the said
court, and when said court shall certify the same before the auditor
of public accounts, the said auditor is authorized and directed to place
the name of the said H. H. Bays upon the pension rolls of this state, and
to draw his warrant annually in due form of law in favor of the said
H. H. Bays for the payment of a pension on account of said disability
of fifteen dollars per annum.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
