Chap. 1008.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3152 of the code of Vir-
ginia, in relation to how courts may discharge jurors or dispense with their
attendance and provide for the time of service of jurors, and how any per-
s0n may be disqualified to serve on any jury.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
thirty-one hundred and fifty-two of the code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 3152. Any court, when not incompatible with the proper dispatch
of its business, shall have power to discharge persons summoned as
jurors therein, or to dispense with their attendance on any day of its
sitting: provided, that no person shall be required to serve more than ten
days as a juror at any term of court, and upon application shall be
excused by the trial judge: provided further, that if said juror is in the
midst of the trial of any case he shall not be dismissed or excused until
that case is tried or disposed of. If the venire is reduced from excuses,
dismissals, or other disqualifications during the term of the court below
the number required by law, the clerk of the court shall draw from the
jury box of said court sufficient names to complete the venire, gr draw
therefrom a new jury, which shall be summoned according to law at
such time as the judge may order: provided further, that no person
shall be eligible to service on any jury where he or any person for him
solicits or requests the Judge to place his name in the jury box, or in
any way designates such person as a Juror.
