Chap. 986.—An ACT for relief of Saml. F. Whitt, a Confederate soldier.

Whereas Saml. F. Whitt, a Confederate soldier of Mayo, Halifax
county, Virginia, is alleged to be totally disabled by reason of chronic
rheumatism, brought on by long and continued exposure while serving
in the army of northern Virginia, and is therefore unable to perform any
kind of manual labor in support of himself and family, and is now
bedridden and unable to walk: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That if it shall
be proven before the county court of Halifax county and so certified to
the auditor of public accounts that the said Saml. F. Whitt’s disability
from the cause afuresaid is total and equal to the loss of a limb, and that
he has no means of support for himself and family, then the auditor of
public accounts is directed to list him for a pension of fifteen dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
