Chap. 865.—An ACT to establish a circuit court for the city of Buena Vista.
Approved March 3, 1498,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That there
shall be a circuit court in and for the city of Buena V ista, Which shall
be held by the judge of the Thirteenth judicial circuit in the courthou
of the said city of Buena Vista.

2. That the said circuit court and the judge thereof shall have t
same jurisdiction, duties and powers within the limits of said city th
the said several circuit courts of this commonwealth have within th
respective counties and corporations. The sergeant, his deputies, t
clerk and his deputies, of the corporation court of said city shall p
form their respective functions and duties for the said circuit court; a
shall receive the same remuneration and be subject to the same pen:
ties as other sergeants and clerks of the circuit courts of this comma
wealth, but such remuneration of said clerk and sergeant and of th:
deputies shall be paid by the said city.

3. The terms of court, unless otherwise provided by law, shall
eld a such times as may from time to time be fixed upon by the Jud
thereof.

4. That all suits, actions, motions, or other proceedings now pendi
in the circuit court of Rockbridge county, which, if instituted sub:
quent to the passage of this act, would have come within the jurisd
tion of the circuit court of the city of Buena Vista, shall be forthwi
removed to the circuit court of the city of Buena Vista, whereup
such suit, action, motion or other proceedings shall be proceeded |
heard and determined by the said circuit court of the city of Bue
Vista as if it had been originally brought therein.

5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
