Chap. 836.—An ACT for the relief of R. J. Harrington, a disabled Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 3, 1598.
Whereas R. J. Harrington, a destitute Confederate soldier of Pittsy
vania county, Virginia, is partially disabled by reason of injuries re
ceived while in the Confederate army and is a cripple; and
Whereas the partial disability of the said R. J. Harrington and th
causes thereof were fully proven before the county court of Pittsvylvani
county, and so certified by said court to the auditor of public accounts
but as this special case is not in the class described in the general statut
as entitled to a pension of fifteen dollars per year said auditor could na
place said R. J. Harrington’s name on that list, yet as he is equitabl.
entitled to the same: therefure,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the aud.
tor of public accounts be, and is hereby, directed and authorized t
place the name of R. J. Harrington on the pension roll as entitled t
fifteen dollars per annum for partial disabilitv, equal to the loss of
limb: provided the facts hereinbefore set out shall be avain proven be
fore the county court of Pittsylvania county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
