Chap. 818.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2465 of the code of Virginia,
in relation to what contracts, deeds, and other writings are void as to ereditors
and purchasers unless recorded.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
twenty-four hundred and sixty-five of the code of Virginia, beamended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2465. Contracts, deeds, and so forth, that are void as to creditors
and purchasers, unless recorded.—Every such contract in writing, every
deed conveying any such estate or term, and every deed of gift or deed
of trust or mortgage conveying real estate or goods and chattels, and
every bill of sale or contract for the sale of goods and chattels, where the pos-
session 18 allowed to remain with the grantor (and any such bill of sale or cun-
tract shall be in writing and signed by the vendor), shall be void as to sub-
sequent purchasers for valuable consideration without notice and credit-
ors until and except from the time that it is duly admitted to record in
the county or corporation wherein the property embraced in such con-
tract, deed, or bill of sale may be. :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
