Chap. 782.—An ACT for the relief of Mrs. Martha Fielder, widow of a Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 3, 1898.
Whereas Mistress Martha Fielder, widow of James Fielder, deceased,
(‘onfederate soldier of Virginia, who was a true and gallant soldier
iring the late war; was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas Mistress Martha Fielder, widow of James Fielder, who died
om injuries received while serving in the late war, is now in destitute
rcumstances: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the county
urt of Campbell shall examine into the condition of the above-named
istress Martha Fielder, widow of James Fielder, a Confederate soldier,
1d upon proof that the said James Fielder died from injuries received
the war as above stated; that she is needy and poor, and should re-
ive aid from Virginia, and if the county court of Campbell should send
certificate of the facts to the auditor of public accounts of Virginia, then
ie auditor of public accounts is directed to place the name of Mistress
artha Fielder on the pension list, and pay her annually the sum of fif-
en dollars, on and after the first day of April, eighteen hundred and
inety-erght.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
