Chap. 729.—An ACT for the relief of John Furrow, a disabled Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 3, 1898.
Whereas John Furrow, a disabled Confederate soldier of Company C
fiftv-fourth regiment of Virginia infantry, was a true and gallant soldie
during the late war; was loyal to Virginia; and
Whereas he is now suffering from the following disability—to-wit:
By reason of his service in the Confederate army, disease contracted 11
the civil war and old age, which together have rendered him incapabl
of supporting himself by labor: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the count
court of Montgomery shall examine into the condition of the above
named John Furrow, a Confederate soldier; and should it be that he wa
true and loyal to Virginia through the war, and that he is now aiflicte
and disabled and incapacitated to do any manual labor; that he is need
and poor, and should receive aid from Virginia, and if the county cou:
of Montgomery should send a certificate of the facts to the auditor c¢
ublic accounts of Virginia, then the auditor of public accounts is d
rected to place the name of John Furrow on the pension list, and pa
him annually the sum of fifteen dollars, on and after the first day c
April, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
