Chap. 64.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 569 of the code of Virginia in
relation to treasurers restrained from collecting; how money refunded.
Approved January 17, 1898.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
five hundred and sixty-nine of the code of Virginia, relative to treas-
urer restrained from collecting, how money refunded, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 569. Treasurer restrained from collecting; how money refunded. —
An order of examination made as aforesaid, when delivered to the treas-
urer, shall restrain him from collecting so much as is thus erroneously
charged; or if the same has already been collected, shall compel him to
refund the money, if such officer has not already paid it into the treasury;
and either way, W hen properly endorsed by the applicant, it shall beasufii-
cient voucher to entitle the officer to a credit for so much in his settle-
ment with the auditor of publie accounts: provided, that no such order of
exuneration, or order refunding money, shall be granted unless the application
be made within the time as prescribed by section five hundred and sixty-sever
of the code.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
