Chap. 458.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2547 of the code providing for
the recordation of wills.
Approved February 28, 1898.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
two thousand five hundred and forty-seven of the code of Virginia, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$2547. Wills to be recorded, and so forth; provision for recording
coples.—Every will or authenticated copy so admitted to record by any
court, shall be recorded by the clerk thereof and remain in the clerk’s
office, except during such time as the same may be carried to another
court under a subpeena duces tecum. A duly certified copy of any will
or of any authenticated copy so admitted to record, may be recorded in
the clerk’s oflice of the county or corporation court of the county or
corporation wherein there is any personal estate bequeathed by such
will. Jt shall be the duty of the personal representative of the testator to
cause a duly certified copy of any will or of any authenticated copy so ad-
mitted to record, to be recorded in the clerk’ s office of the county or corporation
raurt of each county or corporation wherein there is any real estate whereof
the testator died, seized and possessed.
