‘Chap. 323.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3 of an act entitled an act to
incorporate the town of Rappahannock, in the county of Fauquier, and to change
the name thereof to Remington, approved March 3, 1890.
Approved February 12, 1898.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section three
fan act entitled an act to incorporate the town of Rappahannock, in
‘auquier, and to change the name thereof to Remington, shall be
mended and re-enacted to read as follows :
§ 3. George W. Duey, Matthew Ireland, and Hugh Hamilton, junior,
ire hereby constituted judges of election to hold an election on the first
saturday in April, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, between noon and
‘unset, in the town of Remington, for a mayor and six councilmen fot
he said town of Remington.
Said mayor and councilmen (any five of whom shall constitute «
yuorum) shall have power to levy such taxes as the law allows: pro-
vided, that no tax on real or personal property in said corporation 0.
Itemington shall exceed the amount of twenty cents on the one hundrec
dollars’ assessed value thereof.
The election of mayor and councilmen shall be held every two year:
on the first Saturday in April between noon and sunset ; and the maywu:
and councilmen so elected shall hold office for two years and one weel
and thereafter until their successors are duly qualified according to law
The mayor and councilmen elected on the first Saturday in April
eizhteen hundred and ninety-eight, shall hold office until] second Satur-
dav of April, nineteen hundred.
The mayor and councilmen shall have power to arrange and provide
for the election of their successors.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
