Chap. 29.—An ACT to authorize the voters of Mavo river district, in Patrick coun-
ty, to vote on the fence law.
Passed Jenuary 5, 1898.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon pe-
tition of fifty qualified voters from Mavo river district, of Patrick coun-
tv, Virginia, it shall be the duty of the judge of the county court of said
county of Patrick, to ordera vote taken of the qualified voters of said dis-
trict as to whether the boundary Hines of each tract of land shall bea lawful
fence or not. It shall be the duty of the judge of the county court to
order this clection not later than thirty days after application is made to
him for said election, and said judge of the county court shall eause the
said election to be advertised by hand-bill at each precinct, fifteen days
prior to said election. If, from the returns from the said district, it appears
to the court that a majority of the votes cast are in favor of said law, it
shall be the duty of the judge of said county court to have an order
entered on the order book of said county court, that the said boundary
lines of each tract of land in said district is a lawful fence: provided,
that said judge shall not order said election to be held oftener than once

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
