Chap. 13.—An ACT authorizing the board of supervisors of Henrico county to
require osage orange hedges bordering on public roads of said county to be
trimmed by owners of such hedges and to impose a fine for failure to comply.
Approved December 20, 1897,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
of supervisors of Henrico county shall have the power to require
owners of land having osage orange hedges bordering on the public
roads of said county to trim such hedges from time to time sufficiently
to prevent interference with public travel and the proper working of said
roads; and in the case of the failure of such owner or owners to trim
such hedges, when notified to do so, a fine amounting to the actual ccst
of doing the work may be imposed by said board of supervisors and
collected in the same manner as taxes are now collected.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
