Chap. 394.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 875 of the code of Virginis
1887, in relation tothe salary of the superintendent of the poor in Bucking
ham county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec
tion eight hundred and seventy-five of the code of Virginia, eightee:
bundred and eighty-seven, in relation to the salary of the superin
tendent of the poor in Buckingham county, be amended and re
enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 875. The board of supervisors shall allow the superintendent o
the poor a reasonable compensation for his services, not to exceec
however, two hundred and forty dollars in a county containing les
than ten thousand inhabitants, and in no case to exceed three hun
dred dollars: provided that the board of supervisors of Halifa
county may allow the superintendent of the poor of said county
salary not exceeding seven hundred dollars, and the compensatio.
of the superintendent of the poor in Buckingham county shall b
fixed in accordance with this act by the county court of Buckinghan
or the judge thereof in vacation.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
