Chap. 818.—An ACT to punish stealing and taking away sand within this con
monwealth, on the banks of the Potomac river.

1. ‘Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That takin;
stealing and carrying away twenty or more bushels of sand from th
land of any owner on the banks of the Potomac river, within thi
commonwealth, shall be deemed a felony, and on conviction the pe:
son found guilty shall be punished by confinement in the peniter
tiary of not less than one nor more than three years, or, at the discrs
tion of the jury, by a fine of not less than one hundred nor mor
than five hundred dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
