Chap. 765.—An ACT for the protection of game in the counties of Culpeper
and Fairfax.
Approved March 7, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shal]
not be lawful for any person to kill or capture. deer in the counties
of Culpeper and Fairfax between the twenty-fifth day of December
and the first day of September of each and every succeeding year.
2. It shall not be lawful to kill, capture, buy or sell partridges or
quails, pheasants or ruffled grouse, hares or American rabbits, or
wild turkeys, between the fifteenth day of January and the first day
of November of each year, and the possession of the game enu-
merated in this section during the period interdicted shall be deemed
and held a violation of this act.
3. Any person violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and, on conviction thereof before any justice or
court, shall be fined for each offence not less than five nor more than
twenty dollars, and upon failure to pay the fine inflicted may be
confined in jail until the fine be paid: provided the period of im-
prisonment shall in no case exceed thirty days: and it is further
provided that Mongolian pheasants shall be exempt from the provi-
sions of this act.
4. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this
act are hereby repealed.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
