Chap. 696.—An ACT toascertain and establish, by monuments or otherwise, the
boundary line between the state of Virginia and North Carolina, sp far as the
said boundary line divides the county of Mecklenburg, in Virginia, from the
counties of Granville, Warren and Vance, in North Carolina.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
governor of Virginia shall appoint two commissioners to act with
commissioners appointed, or to be appointed, by the state of North
Carolina for the purpose of ascertaining and establishing, by monu-
ments or otherwise, the boundary line between the state of Virginia
and North Carolina, so far as the said boundary line divides the
county of Mecklenburg, in the state of Virginia, from the counties
of Granville, Warren and Vance, in the state of North Carolina; and
to carry out the purpose of this act the governor of Virginia is
hereby empowered and authorized to expend an amount not exceed-
ing two hundred dollars. Said commissioners shall, before the next
meeting of the general assembly of Virginia, submit a report of said
survey, covering all necessary points relating to said boundary line,
to the governor of Virginia, who shall submit the report to the next
general assembly.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
