Chap. 638.—An ACT for the relief of J. E. Moore, of Chesterfield county, a
disabled Confederate soldier.
Approved March 5, 1894.
Whereas J. E. Moore, of Chesterfield county, a deserving Confede-
tate soldier, lost hia leg in the late war between the states; and
whereas the said Moore, by reason of the loss of his leg, is unable to
perform manual labor, and being without resources: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
name of said J. E. Moore be placed by the auditor on the list of Con-
federate soldiers who lost an arm or leg or foot or hand while in dis-
charge of their duty as soldiers, and that said J. E. Moore be entitled
to and receive such sum as such soldiers each are entitled to under
an act approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, as
amended by the act approved March first, eighteen hundred and
ninety-two, entitled an act to give aid to soldiers, sailors and marines
of Virginia maimed or disabled in the war between the states, and to
widows of Virginia soldiers, sailors and marines who lost their lives
In said war ic military service: provided, however, that before the
auditor shall be authorized to place the name of said Moore on such
list the said Moore shall prove before the county court of Chesterfield
county that said disability was contracted and incurred by said
Moore in the military service of the state, and said Moore shall pro-
duce to the auditor of public accounts the certificate of said court
showing the proof and testimony aforesaid, and that said court is
eatisfied as to the truth and correctness of the same.
2. Thies act shall be in force from its passage.
