Chap. 632.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4179, code of Virginia, in re-
gard tocriminal proceedings against convicts, and to repeal an act entitled
an act to amend and re-enact section 4219, chapter 205, code of Virginia,
edition of 1887, in regard to criminal proceedings against convicts, approved
March 5, 1888.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
forty-one hundred and seventy-nine, code of Virginia, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 4179. All criminal proceedings against convicts in the peniten-
tiary shall be in the circuit court of the city of Richmond: pro-
vided that when convicts are employed upon any work of public or
private improvement in any county in the state the criminal proceed-
ings against them may be in the county court of the county in which
the convict isso employed, or in the circuit court of the city of Rich-
mond.
2. That an act entitled au act to amend and re-enact section forty-
two hundred and nineteen, code of Virginia, edition of eighteen
hundred and eighty-seven, in regard to criminal proceedings against
convicts, approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight,
is hereby repealed.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
