Chap. 610.—An ACT for the protection of game in Rockingham county, Vir-
ginia.
Approved March 3, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
not be lawful in the county of Rockingham for any person to kill or
capture or chase with dogs any deer between the first day of January
and the first day of October in any year.
2. Nor to kill or capture or offer for sale or buy any partridges or
quail between the fifteenth day of December and the fifteenth day
of October in any year, nor capture the same at any time in nets or
traps, or destroy the eggs of said game birds.
3. Nor to kill or capture or offer for sale or buy any pheasants or
ruffled grouse or any wild turkeys between the fifteenth day of Janu-
ary and the first day of September in any year, nor to capture the
same in snares or traps at any time.
4. It shall be unlawful for any person to kill or capture in said
county of Rockingham any game birds or deer mentioned in this act
for the purpose of shipping the same to any point outside of the state
of Virginia, and any person who shall violate this section or either
of the preceding sections of this act shall be fined not less than five
nor more than twenty dollars for each offence.
5. Any railroad company or express company or other transporta-
tion company who shall receive for shipment any game bird or deer
mentioned in this act, and shall ship the same to any point outside
of the state of Virginia, shall be fined not less than twenty dollars
for each offence.
6. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act, so far as re-
lates to the county of Rockingham, are hereby repealed.
7. This act shall be in force from its passage.
