Chap. 578.—An ACT to relieve the Clarksville sufferers from the fire from tax
on such property as was lost.
Approved March 8, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That all
persons owning property in Clarksville, Virginia, who bad property
destroyed by the fire which occurred on the first day of April, eigh-
teen hundred and ninety-three, be discharged from the payment of
tax on said property so burned for the year eighteen hundred and
ninety-three, and the treasurer of Mecklenburg county shall! not col-
lect the same; and the commissioner of the revenue for that district
is directed to take from the value of the property so consumed by
fire so much of its valuation as was made on account of buildings
thereon: provided that this act shall not apply to property insured
against loss from fire, and upon which the policy of insurance was
paid, or policies now in litigation.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
