Chap. 538.—An ACT for the relief of William H. Carter, of Washington county,
a disabled soldier.
Approved March 1, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the audi-
tor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized to place the
name of William H. Carter, of the county of Wasbington, on the list
of Confederate soldiers who lost both legs in the late war who are
entitled to commutation to disabled soldiers allowed by an act of
the general assembly, as approved March first, eighteen hundred and
ninety-two, and that said Carter, as such disabled soldier, be entitled
to the profits and provisions of said act of assembly as fully as if
he had lost both of said limbs in action: provided, however, that
the auditor shall not place said Carter upon said list until said Car-
ter shal] have appeared and produced competent testimony before
the county court of Washington county showing that the disability
under which he is suffering is equally great as if he had lost both
his legs, and that such disability was caused by a wound or injury
received in the military service of the state, and shall produce to the
auditor the certificate of said court to this effect.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
