Chap. 534.—An ACT extending the time for the collection of taxes for the year
1893, in the county of Bedford.
Approved March 1, 1894.
Whereas the office of county treasurer of the county of Bedford
has been in an unsettled condition since the first day of August,
eighteen hundred and ninety-three, owing to financial troubles of
the treasurer, and the board of supervisors of the said county have
refused to make the county levy, and in consequence no opportunity
has been given to the tax-payers of said county to pay their taxes
prior to te first day of December, eighteen hundred and ninety-three,
and thus escape the penalty of five per centum affixed by law for
non-payment of taxes prior to that time: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
treasurer of the county of Bedford shall not until May first, eigh-
teen hundred and ninety-four, add to the taxes due by the tax-
payers of said county forthe year eighteen hundred and ninety-three
the five per centum provided by law for failure to pay prior to the
first day of December, and the treasurer of said county shall have
until the fifteenth day of September, eighteen hundred and ninety-
four, to make his final] settlement with the auditor of public accounts,
instead of the fifteenth day of June as now provided by law.
2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act are hereby
repealed.
3. Thie act.shall hein forego from its passage.
