Chap. 53.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 11 of an act entitled “An act
incorporating the Farmville and Powhatan railroad company,” approved
March 8, 1&84.
Approved January 22, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
eleven of chapter two hundred and thirty-three, acts of assembly
eighteen hundred and eighty-three and four, be amended and re-
enacted so that said section shall read us follows:
§ 11. It shall be lawful for the said company to subscribe for or
purchase the stock and bonds of any connecting railroad and to pur-
chase the property and works of the Virginia and Carolina railroad
from the city of Petersburg, now owned and held under authority
granted by an act of assembly approved February the seventeenth,
eighteen hundred and ninety, with power to resell, and to complete
the said railroad and to operate the same under its own charter, the
same asif the power to construct and operate the road as granted the
Virginia and Carolina railroad company, had been originally granted
to the Farmville and Powhatan railroad company, with power to co
demn property as prescribed by the code: provided, however, that
the Farmville and Powhatan railroad company purchase the afo
paid property and works, work shall commence within two years a
be completed in five years.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
