Chap. 508.—An ACT for the relief of James Barbour and his co-tenants.
Approved March 1, 1894.
Whereas a tract of land in the county of Culpeper belonging
originally to the late John S. Barbour, and by him devised to the
persons herein seeking relief, has for the last nine years been entered
and assessed as containing eight hundred and thirteen acres of land,
while in truth and fact such tract contained only six hundred and
seventy-six acres; and whereas there were collected from and as-
sessed against this land during the years eighteen bundred and
eighty-five, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, eighteen hundred
and eighty-nine and eighteen hundred and ninety, an annual excess
of six dollars and a half and an aggregate excess of thirty-nine dol-
lars of state and state school taxes over and above what would and
should have been collected had this land been assessed as of its true
quantity; and whereas there are assessed against and collected from
this land during the years eighteen hundred and ninety-one and
eighteen hundred and ninety-two an annual excess of five dollars
and forty-eight cents and an aggregate excess of ten dollars and
ninety-six cents of state and state school taxes over and above what
would and should have been collected had this land been assessed as
of its true quantity: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts do draw his warrant on the treasury,
payable out of any funds not otherwise appropriated, in the sum of
forty-nine dollars and ninety-six cents, in favor of James Barbour,
Annie G. Minnegerode, Lelia Thompson, J. 8. B. Thompson, Eliza
B. Thompson, Ruth Thompson and George G. Thompson, junior.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
