Chap. 45.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act approved February 21, 1882,
entitled an act to allow Abel A. Lake to erect a wharf at Franklin City, in
Accomac county.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That an act
of the general assembly of Virginia, approved February twenty-first,
eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled an act to allow Abel A.
Lake to erect a wharf at Franklin City, in Accomac county, on Chin-
coteague bay, for the purpose of shipping oysters, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Willard M. Needles, assignee of George H. Ellis, assignee of Abel A.
Lake, of the county of Accomac, be, and he is hereby, authorized to
erect a wharf, platforms, oyster-houses, sheds and other buildings
and oyster-floats at Franklin City, in Accomac county, on Chinco-
teague bay, for the purpose of shipping oysters, clams, fish, crabs
and any other commodities to and from the same for himself and
others, starting at a point on the southeastward side of a certain
platform now erected thereon, a distance of forty feet from the said
platform, at the line of ordinary low water mark, on the land
known as the Worcester railroad company’s land and extending
along the line at ordinary low water mark on the line of said rail-
road company’s land in about a west or northwestwardly direction to
the northwestward side of the said platform, a distance of forty-five
feet ; thence along the northwestwardly side adjoining said platform,
in about a southwestwardly direction, a distance of about one hun-
dred and ten feet to the southwestward line of a space occupied by
George P. Taylor; thence extending into the bay in a westwardly or
northwestwardly direction a distance of about two hundred and fifty
feet; thence in a southwestwardly direction in said bay a distance of
three hundred feet; thence in a southeastwardly direction in said
bay a distance of five hundred feet; thence in about a northeast-
wardly direction in said bay a distance of about three hundred and
thirty feet; thence in abouta northwestwardly direction in said bay
a distance of about two hundred and ten feet; and thence in a
northeastwardly direction a distance of about one hundred and ten
feet to the point of the first beginning, forty feet southeastwardly of
the said platform, atthe line of ordinary low water.mark.on the land
of said Worcester railroad company’s land, and the said Willard M.
Needles, his heirs or assigns, shall have the right to charge and col-
lect such compensation for the use of said wharf, platforms, oyster
houses, sheds and oyster floats, or any of them, as may have been
agreed upon by and between the parties, or as are usual: provided
that the said wharf, platforms, oyster houses, sheds and oyster floats
shall not interfere with navigation: and provided, also, that this act
shall, at all times, be under the control of the general assembly and
be amended or repealed, as may be deemed proper.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
