Chap. 44.—An ACT to allow R. E. Johnston and J. J. Routten to erect a wharf
on Harris creek, in Elizabeth City county.

1. Be it enacted by the general of assembly of Virginia, That R.
E. Johnston and J. J. Routten, of the county of Elizabeth City, be,
and they are hereby, authorized to erect a wharf in front of the shore
of R. E. Johnston, in said county, on Harris creek, for the purpose
of a steamboat landing, and for carrying on shipping business in
anrvotara and truinbe and nthar marnhangdigo gnrh ag ia neaenallywy narrian
on other wharves of like kind, extending gne hundred feet from
low water mark in said Harris creek, and two hundred feet in width.
Said R. E. Johnston and J. J. Routten, their heirs and assigns, shall
have the right to charge a reasonable compensation for the use of
said wharf: provided that the said wharf shall not interfere with
navigation: and provided, also, that this act shall at all times be
under the control of the general assembly.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
