Chap. 426.—An ACT to providefor the payment of debts due by commission
merchants.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That when-
ever any farm product shall have be consigned to any commission
merchant for sale, and the said commission merchant shall become
insolvent, or die, before paying over the proceeds of the sale thereof
to, or on account of, the consignor, the claim of such consignor.
when legally proved shall be a lien on the estate of the said com-.
mission merchant, subject only to such liens as were created on said
estate and recovered prior to said sale: provided, however, that the
benefit of this act shall not accrue to any consignor who shall allow
said proceeds to remain with such commission merchant at interest
nor to any consignor who shal! allow such proceeds to remain in the
hands of such commission merchant more than thirty days after be
coming informed of such sale.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
