Chap. 36.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Page county to
appropriate and use certain surplus funds now in the hands of the treasurer
of said county and to come into his hands from the levy to be made for the
year 1894.
Approved January 15, 18%.
Whereas by a refunding of certain outstanding bonds bearing six
per centum interest, issued by the county of Page to pay its eubscrip-
tion to the capital stock of the Shenandoah valley railroad company
into bonds bearing five per centum interest, there has resulted in said
county a surplus fund accrued from what is known as the railroad
tax in said county; and
Whereas by the provisions of said bonds none of them can be
red eemed by said county until the year nineteen hundred and three;

Whereas there is pressing need for additional funds for other pur-
poses in said county, such as enlarging and repairing the court-house,
improving and r3priring ths public roads, which in many parts of
he county have been practically destroyed by the unprecedented
loods of the past summer and fall: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
yoard of supervisors of Page county be, and they are hereby, autho-
‘ized to appropriate and use for the purposes above named, and for
yther county or district purposes, any surplus fund arising from levies
1eretofore made or to be made for the year eighteen hundred and
1inety-four.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
