Chap. 309.—An ACT to place Charles T. Steele, a wounded soldier, of Craig
county, on the pension list.

Whereas Charles T. Steele, of Craig county, whilst in the discharge
f his duty as a soldier in company B, twenty-eighth Virginia regi-
ment, was in the charge of Pickett’s division, on the third of July,
ighteen hundred and sixty-four, at Gettysburg, was thrice shot
through the right thigh, which limb was so badly shattered that he
has been unable to earn his daily food by manual labor, but did not
lose said limb so as to entitle him to a pension received under the
act approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, but is
clearly entitled to receive a pension under the spirit of said act:
therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized to place
the name of Charles T. Steele on the pension list for a pension of
thirty dollars per annum.
2. This act shall bein force from its passage.
