Chap. 279.—An ACT to authorize the union of the Chesapeake and Ohio rail-
way company and the Buckingham railroad company by lease, purchase.
consolidation, merger or otherwise, in accordance with the terms of any con-
tract which may have been or may be entered into by and between said
companies.
Approved February 19, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it
shall be lawful for the Chesapeake and Ohio railway company and
the Buckingham railroad company to unite with each other by lease,
purchase, consolidation, merger or otherwise, under the terms of any
contract which may have been or may be approved by a majority in
interest of the stockholders of the said companies, respectively, for
the lease, purchase, consolidation, merger or other contract for main-
tenance and operation, in which event the said Chesapeake and
Ohio railway company shall be entitled to and shall have, possess
and enjoy all the rights, privileges and franchises, and property of
the said Buckingham railroad company, and be entitléd, in respect
to such railroad so acquired, to all the rights and privileges which,
by its charter, is conferred upon the said Chesapeake and Ohio rail-
way company. ,
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
