Chap. 257.—An ACT to empower the board of supervisors of Pulaski county
reimburse the town of Pulaski for money expended by it in caring for p
sons afilicted with small-pox in said county, &c.

Whereas there have recently been a number of cases of small-p
in the town of Pulaski, in the county of Pulaski, and said town h
incurred and paid an indebtedness amounting to about sixteen hu
dred dollars in caring for persons aflilicted with small-pox and
preventing the spread of that disease, and the citizens of said tov
are, in common with all other citizens of said county, subject to a
taxes assessed and collected therein for county purposes, exce
road tax, and are liable for their proportionate share of money e
pended by said county for the public health: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That tl
board of supervisors of said county of Pulaski be, and they a
hereby, authorized and empowered to pay off and liquidate, out «
the levy for county purposes, the said indebtedness incurred :
aforesaid by the said town in caring for persons afflicted with smal
pox and in preventing the spread of that disease.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
