Chap. 220.—An ACT to extend the powers of the board of supervisors of Han-
over county, with reference to keeping in order the public roads of said
county, and to ratify and make valid any contracts or purchases heretofore
made by said board for the purposes indicated in this act.
Approved February 12, 1804.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That in
addition to the powers now conferred by existing laws upon the board
of supervisors of Hanover county for working and keeping in order
the public roada of said county, the said board of supervisors, and
their successors in office, shall have power, at their discretion, to pur-
chase and maintain out of the county funds teams (mules, horses or
oxen), harness, machinery or other implements for use on the public
roads of the county, and to replenish and repair the same from time
to time; and in all cases where the said board have heretofore pur-
chased teams, harness, machinery or other implements for the pur-
poses indicated in this act, and paid for the same, or contracted to
pay for the same, or the maintenance of such teams or repairs to
such machinery or implements out of the county funds, such act or
acts of said board are hereby ratified and declared to be legal and
valid.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
