Chap. 213.—An ACT to authorize the recordation in the clerk’s office of the
corporation court of the city of Buena Vista of certain writings, papers and
records heretofore recorded in the clerk’s office of the county court of Rock-
bridge county, by copying the same from the books in said last named clerk’s
office, in which said writings are now recorded.
Approved February 12, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the
clerk of the corporation court of the city of Buena Vista be au-
thorized and required to record in the deed books and other proper
books required by law to be kept in his office for the recordation of
deeds and other such instruments, contracts or writings, all deeds of
bargain and sale, deeds of trust and other writings conveying or con-
cerning real or persunal property situated within the limits of the
city of Buena Vista, which have heretofore been recorded in the
clerk’s office of the county court of Rockbridge county since the
fourteenth day of February, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, the
date of the organization of the Buena Vista company, to the first day
of March, eighteen hundred and ninety-two, the date of the estab-
lishment of a court of record in Buena Vista, by transcribing the
same from the books in the clerk’s office of the county court of Rock-
bridge county, in which said writings are now recorded.
2. That the clerk of the corporation court of the city of Buena
Vista shall have access to and temporary use of the records of the
county court of Rockbridge county in the clerk’s office of said county,
under the supervision and control of the clerk of said county court,
for the purpose of making the copies and recordations required of
him by this act.
3. That the clerk of said corporation court shall be paid for the
work required of him by this act by the city of Buena Vista, upon
order or certificate of the said corporation court of the city of Buena
Vista, fees not exceeding one-half of the original taxable fees for the
same; and the clerk of the county court of Rockbridge shall be paid
a fair compensation by said city of Buena Vista for such supervision
of said work, to be fixed by the judge of the circuit court of Rock-
bridge county.
4. That the recordations required to be made by this act shall be
public records, and they are hereby so constituted to have, from and
after such recordation, all the force and effect as if the same had
been originally recorded in the clerk’s office of the said corporation
court of the city of Buena Vista, and from and after such time the
records sv transcribed and made shall, for all purposes, be treated as
the original records, and copies therefrom, attested as such by the
clerk of the corporation court of the city of Buena Vista, shall be
evidence in all the courts of the commonwealth, in like manner as
the originals would be.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
