Chap. 198.—An ACT for the protection of game in the counties of Mecklen-
urg and Charlotte.
Approved February 10, 1894.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That it shall
be unlawful for any person to kill or capture, buy or sell partridges
or wild turkeys in the county of Charlotte and in the county of
Mecklenburg between the first day of February and the first day of
November, or at any time to take or destroy the eggs of partridges
or wild turkeys or catch them with traps or nets.
2. If any person violate any of the provisions of this act he shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, be fined
for each offence twenty dollars and confined in jail until the fine is
paid, but not exceeding thirty days.
3. In any prosecution of a person for the violation of this act,
proof of the possession by such person of any such bird or turkey,
as the case may be, shall be prima facie evidence of, his. guilt.
4, The judge of each county shall] cause printed notices of the pas-
sage of this act to be posted at the court-house on or before the first
day of May, eighteen hundred and ninety-four.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
